Ensuring we’re fit for the future:Chartered Actuary(CAct)

The IFoA has developed a proposal that will have the explicit aim of improving the long-term employability of those who qualify as actuaries through the IFoA. Council now wishes to seek your views on, and test your appetite for, the changes suggested. The central feature of the proposal is a newly titled qualification - the ‘Chartered Actuary’ (CAct). Council wishes to hear your views on this proposal, so we are initiating a consultation which will run until 28 February 2018.  Please visit IFoA Official website for more information.

IFoA's Director of Engagement and Learning Visited China this November

From 20th to 23rd November,Professor Clifford Friend, the IFoA Director of Engagement and Learning, Ms Wen Li, the IFoA Lead Representative in East Asia visited 6 universities in China and held QAS (Quality Assurance System) meetings with 5 of them. Sunshine Insurance Group to be a platinum sponsor

The Sunshine Insurance Group is a platinum sponsor of the IFoA Asia Conference this year.  Since 2016, Sunshine Insurance has partnered with the IFoA to sponsor IFoA students at two universities – the Central University of Finance and Economics and the University of International Business and Economics in China.  The continuing rise in demand for actuarial expertise from the insurance industry in the region, offers both parties the opportunity to collaborate in the training of high quality actuarial talents.

Plenary speakers announced

The full list of plenary speakers for this year’s IFoA Asia conference has been announced.  We are delighted that; Sir James Mirrlees, Nobel Prize Winner and Economist, Ms Yi Qin, founder of Blockchain practice for Deloitte China and Chairwoman for Rubix, and Yves Guerard, former Secretary General of the IAA will be participating in what promises to be our best Asia Conference yet. 

Keynote speaker announced

Dr. Moses Cheung, Chair of the Independent Insurance Regulator, Hong Kong has been announced as the IFoA Asia Conference’s keynote speaker. Dr Cheung will deliver the opening address for the conference which is also part of the new IFoA Professionalism Lecture Series programme.  This has been designed to promote debate around the importance of professionalism, and the role of professionals, including actuaries and others, across the financial services industry.
